“Honoring The Departed”
“Honoring the Departed” is an original orchestral score composed by Tony Nguyen for his Film/Game Scoring Class at USC. This piece was written to accompany a dramatic, cinematic sequence that captures the emotional journey of loss, remembrance, and heroism.
Built using layered strings and percussion, the score evolves from subtle tension to a powerful, heartfelt resolution, reflecting the themes of sacrifice and hope that define the story’s final moments.

Performing “Imagine” on Gõ Cửa Thăm Nhà
Behind the scenes of Tony performing Imagine by John Lennon, accompanying himself on piano and vocals as a tribute during the COVID-19 pandemic. Filmed while he was still in high school, this performance was recorded during the production of Gõ Cửa Thăm Nhà, one of Vietnam’s most popular television programs at the time, hosted by renowned comedian Quốc Thuận and acclaimed actress Ngọc Lan.
Music Production at USC Thornton School of Music
In his music production studies at USC, he learns from some of Hollywood’s most accomplished figures, including Emmy® Award–winning music director Greg Phillinganes, Grammy® Award–winning composer Lolita Ritmanis, BAFTA Award–winning composer Garry Schyman, and acclaimed singer Ken Stacey. Under their mentorship, Tony continues to refine his artistry across composition, production, and performance.
